East Van Barbell

Marlaena, my friend Jordan and I have started a barbell club at CrossFit Vancouver, where we all train. It's called the East Van Barbell Club and is a place where friends can get together, hang out and lift heavy!

We've only had the club running for a couple of weeks but the response has been fantastic! We have over 20 people involved right now and we're getting busier every training session! The barbell club gets together every Tuesday night and Saturday morning and focus on one of the 4 movements - the squat, deadlift, shoulder press and bench. We also program a ton of supplementary exercises and finish off with a hard but fun workout at the end!

We have a great mix of people, some that have only been lifting for 6 months and others that have been lifting for years! It's been a lot of fun so far and is only going to get better the farther along we all get! Here's a pic of the crew after our workout this morning!

We also started training with a friend of ours, Curtis Munson who owns Valhalla Strength and Conditioning in Sechelt, B.C. He's a great guy and has an awesome facility that we're going to try to visit a few times a year so we can train together and share ideas!
