Make The Shift

January 12 2014

One of my clients gave me a book to read over the holidays called The Shift

The book follows 'Good Morning America' contributor Tory Johnson on her journey from flab to fab as she finally hits her tipping point and decides to make "the shift" to a happier, healthier life.

In the book, Tory Johnson talks very honestly about her life long battle with her weight and the pressure she's felt over the years working in an often superficial entertainment news industry.

In order to make the shift, Tory follows 3 simple rules:

1. Eat a whole lot less

2. Don't exceed 25 carbs a day

3. No fake food

These rules might seem pretty simple... but that's because they are!!

The diet and supplement companies will try to convince you otherwise but it's really not complicated. It just comes down to using some common sense and a little bit of will power!

After making the shift, Tory talks about the difficulties of juggling her family life and a full time job while trying to make better food choices and live a healthier lifestyle. She talks about how important her husband and children were on her weight loss journey and how their support helped her finally reach a point in her life where she felt like she had the body she truly deserved!

I thought this was a really good read and got through the book in a couple days. The story is real and the author is incredibly honest and forthcoming.  I think it would serve as a great motivator for anybody needing a little extra help turning that corner and Making The Shift to a better life!
