I watched a documentary a couple months ago called Hungry For Change
. The film talks about how as a society we are eating WAY TOO MUCH refined sugar and processed carbohydrates and NOT NEARLY ENOUGH fresh vegetables and fruits. I'll be honest... I kind of dozed off near the end of the movie but I got the gist of it and decided that I would start juicing more often and drink at least one super, healthy smoothie a day!
I already had a pretty good blender at home but I figured if I was going to do this and do it right, that I'd make the investment and get the Rolls Royce of blenders.. the Vitamix!
My new Vitamix arrived in the mail last week and I've been having a lot of fun experimenting with some tasty new smoothie recipes!!
This is my favourite one so far:
frozen fruit mix (strawberries, mangoes, blueberries)
yellow bell pepper
Provitalex pure whey
I also made my first "homemade" tomato sauce for spaghetti the other night. We had it with spaghetti squash (instead of wheat noodles) and it was amazing! It didn't look like the sauce you buy at the grocery store but you could taste the vine ripened tomatoes and fresh basil from my herb garden and it was so good!
It was the first time trying, but this is what I used:
salt and pepper
Needless to say... I am loving my Vitamix
and would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a super, duper 2-peak HP (horse power) blending machine!
