Calves Calves (calf muscles) influence the ankles and contribute to overall ankle strength. Strengthening your calf muscles will help your balance and performing movements such as running, walking and jumping. Equipment Used Treadmill The treadmill is an indoor exercise machine that simulates running or walking while staying in one place. Exercise Instructions Step 1 Start at an appropriate speed based on your fitness level. Step 2 Jog lightly for the recommended length of time. Step 3 Slow the treadmill down or jump off to stop.
