Obliques Many people put a lot of focus on working their abs but forget their surrounding neighbors; the oblique muscles. Obliques serve as stabilizers, and are used in almost every physical activity. Exercising your obliques should be a very important part of your workout program. Equipment Used Cable Machine The cable machine is a piece of equipment used in weight training or functional training. A wide variety of exercises can be performed using the apparatus. Exercise Instructions Step 1 Start with yiour feet shoulder width apart and a fairly deep bend in your knees. Hold on to the bar at about shoulder height with your hands on the end of the curl bar. Step 2 Keep your body fairly rigid and a deep bend in your knees as you slowly lower the bar down to your thighs. Make sure to keep your shoulders retracted and relaxed and pull the bar down with your lats. Step 3 Control the bar as you slowly raise it back up to the starting postion and repeat.
